The NI SCXI-1520 is a precision signal conditioning module tailored for strain measurement applications. Designed for use with quarter-bridge strain gages, it delivers high accuracy and flexibility, making it ideal for structural testing, materials research, and industrial monitoring. Each channel is equipped with programmable excitation voltage, null compensation, and shunt calibration to ensure reliable and repeatable measurements.
This module features 24 independent analog input channels, each with a built-in quarter-bridge completion resistor. The SCXI-1520 supports both 120 Ω and 350 Ω strain gages, offering compatibility with a wide range of sensor types. The programmable excitation voltage allows users to adjust the input signal level for optimal resolution and accuracy.
To enhance measurement reliability, the SCXI-1520 includes automatic null compensation that removes offset voltage through software control. This eliminates the need for manual potentiometer adjustments and ensures consistent performance over time and across operating conditions. Shunt calibration is also performed via software using internal resistors, enabling users to simulate strain and correct for system errors without physical adjustments.
Designed for seamless integration, the SCXI-1520 can be used with SCXI chassis and National Instruments DAQ hardware. It connects easily to DAQ devices via multiplexing, allowing for scalable measurement systems. The module is fully supported by NI-DAQmx driver software, which simplifies configuration, data acquisition, and analysis using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or other compatible development environments.
With its rugged design and high-performance specifications, the NI SCXI-1520 is suitable for demanding applications in aerospace, automotive, civil engineering, and manufacturing. Whether used for monitoring structural integrity, testing material fatigue, or controlling industrial processes, this module delivers the precision and flexibility required for accurate strain analysis.
